Trying to pick DP or TIW. 5 kids of our kids are ages 10-12 and will want to order from kid's menu probably half of the time or more. Do you think the DP is worth it? Thanks for your help!

    Hello, MIchelle!

This is a great question, and it's one which is best answered using personal details such as what you've provided here.

While my family loves the Dining Plan, and always adds it to our travel plans when heading to Walt Disney World, Tables in Wonderland is an excellent program, too. (We are TIW cardholders this year as well.) For your family, since you have 5 kids who qualify as adults on the DP, but all of whom would rather order from the kids' menu, I suggest that you purchase the TIW card instead. You'll be able to enjoy a 20% savings on your Table-Service meals, and you'll have the luxury of ordering what you want, instead of what's included.

That being said, keep in mind that you can experience tremendous savings while on the Dining Plan if you are going to eat at many Quick-Service locations (most of which are not eligible for TIW discounts.) Head over to a great unofficial website, allearsnet.com; hover over "Walt Disney World" and click on "Dining." There, you'll be able to see unofficial postings of menu options and prices, too, for both Table- and Quick-Service restaurants. Estimate what your family might spend in one day while on the DP, and then calculate what those same exact meals and snacks would cost you if only using the TIW card. That will give you a rough idea of which of these great options is best for your family.

Send another question if you think of specifics such as food preferences, if you'll be dining at a Table-Service restaurant each day or if you've considered the Quick-Service Dining Plan option, too. I'd love to help you select the best options for your family trip to Walt Disney World!
