Hello! I am trying to forecast . I am in the Army and trying to plan a family vacation for my family (one daughter under age 2) scheduled potentially for early August 2011, when I hope to be on R&R leave from Iraq. What activities/parks are suitable?

Hello Angela,  first let me say how proud I am to be helping someone who has sacrificed so much for our great country!   Walt Disney World Parks are more than suitable for a family vacation.  In fact, to me, it's the perfect place for one.  Take your children to Magic Kingdom as your first Park.  Practically every ride there is appropriate for parents and kids alike.  The rides that may not be appropriate for young children will have signs in front of the entrances with a warning if this is the case.  Usually, the more "active" rides will have height restrictions.  If your child is not tall enough they don't go on the ride.  Easy call.  Trust me though, there aren't too many like this.  I took my son to Magic Kingdom for his first time when he was 3 months old, and my daughter when she was 18 months old.  I didn't have any issues with strollering them around or getting on rides.

Let me give you some money saving tips which is necessary when you travel to Disney World.  At least it is for me!  Disney supports our U.S. Troops!  Call 407-939-7830 when making your Disney reservations.  Disney is currently offering 4 day Park Hopper tickets for members of the military and up to 6 family members through 9/28/11.  You can also contact different U.S. Military bases to see if one is participating.  If you find one, their prices may actually be a little lower than buying them through Disney.  While making your call to Disney ask about room reservations.  At present time, Disney is also offering up to a 40% discount on rooms at select Disney resorts when you book with travel dates prior to 9/28/11.  Please keep in mind that you will need your valid military I.D. when checking in so make sure you pack them.

I hope that I've helped you in some way.  Again Disney salutes our men and women who serve.  Have a magical time!

Magic Kingdom still takes my breath away, but my favorite place to be is on a Disney ship looking at the horizon and breathing in that crisp, clean ocean air!  I love planning Disney vacations for others and making sure it's more than they dreamed. Learn More About Marisol
