I am trying to find out what the must haves are for my children's day packs for our coming Halloween vacation. Can you give me any advice on things we must have in my children's backpacks (boy - 8 loves Pixar and girl - 5 loves Princesses)?

    Hello Jennifer,

You are going to Disney at such a wonderful time of year. I love Halloween at Disney! And your Buzz Lightyear and Cinderella are at a fantastic age to be visiting the Parks. They're simply going to enjoy every minute.

If your kids are planning on having a small backpack each for their visit inside the Theme Parks, I suggest you keep their bags light. After a long day, even the lightest bags can weigh them down...meaning dear ol' Mom may be carrying them for the duration of the trip! But for the sake of separating a few of the "necessities," I can understand - and appreciate - the need for the backpacks. And this will free up some room in your purse!

You will definitely want to have a felt tip pen and autograph book for each child. That way there's no argument over who will ask Mickey Mouse for an autograph. They both can get one!

I'd also suggest packing a lightweight jacket in each of their bags. This way you're prepared for a random rain shower in the afternoon. And if the evenings become too cool for them, they have some relief.

You might want to pack one or two of their favorite snacks. It could be a granola bar or a piece of fruit...just something that they can grab while waiting in line. I know kids can get hungry at a moment's notice - and that some time's happens while you're in line for Soarin'!

The only other thing I might suggest is something my daughter really enjoys doing. She always makes a small card for one of the characters before we leave for Florida. Then she brings it with her so if there's a meet-and-greet, she is able to present her "gift" to them. It makes such a precious photo!

I hope this helps. I hope you and your family make memories that will take you all from infinity to beyond!

My family loves our Main Street in Ohio. But there's simply no comparison to Main Street U.S.A.! We don't get to Disney quite as often as I'd like, but that just means finding new ways to sprinkle Pixie Dust on our adventures! Learn More About Monina
