    HI. Trying to figure out best way to watch illuminations. I wanted to book the character dinner at the garden grill but believe La hacienda has great views. Can I book La hacinda and just have desert? Alternatively does garden grill do character lunches?

    I'm happy to help with your WDW vacation plans!

    Last year, my family watched IllumiNations from inside La Hacienda. We only ordered desserts. However, we all agreed that the views are much better from outside the restaurant.

    At about 8:15 p.m., we like to grab a favorite snack and beverage from World Showcase and then find a spot along the lagoon for IllumiNations.

    If you are traveling with small children, it's a good idea to find a location near Future World so that you can make a speedy exit as the lines for transportation are very long at park closing. Guests staying in the Boardwalk resort area including Yacht Club, Beach Club, WDW Swan and WDW Dolphin should watch the show near the United Kingdom or France for an easy exit out the International Gateway.

    Garden Grill in the Land Pavilion does not serve lunch. Lunch was discontinued about three years ago. A family style dinner is served each evening.
