Hi, We are trying to figure out when the best time would be to go to disney with a very active 1.5 year old. We are thinking October 27th - November 3rd or December 2 - 9th. Any suggestions on making this decision easier would be great.

Hi Kate!  Wow you have pulled two great weeks out of the year for a Disney vacation and both have definite pros.  Let me try to summarize both with weather and activities to help you make a final decision.

    10/27-11/3:
This is a very festive time and especially at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.  The annual Food and Wine Festival is being held in Epcot and although your 1.5 isn't going to enjoy that it is a fun place to stroll and graze. The big fun is in the Magic Kingdom for the kids. If you chose this date I would recommend purchasing the extra event ticket, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.  You would have a couple of choices for dates for this and the park comes alive for Halloween each year. Take your costumes (yes mom and dad too) and meet the characters all decked out for the holiday and pick up extra treats along the way.  The weather is generally warm but nice and starting to cool off in the evenings. Crowds are busy but not unmanageable.

    12/2-12/9:
This has always been one of the better times of year to go for lower crowd levels but it is becoming more popular. If your favorite holiday is Christmas then definitely choose this week. They will usually be filming the Christmas parade at this time if you are interested in watching that but beware the Magic Kingdom park will be VERY crowded on the days they do this. For this week purchase the special event party ticket for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom.  The parade is festive with the big jolly guy at the end wishing all a happy holiday. Epcot has special holiday Illuminations and the resorts are a buzz with activities and decorations.  This is one of my favorite times of year to be in Disney. The weather is usually wonderful as the heat has disappeared usually and you even need a light wrap for the early mornings and evenings.

My vote: December but you would have a great time during either week!
