I am trying to eat healthy on our trip to Disney next week! Am I able to swap both my dessert AND soda for a soup and salad at Quick Service restaurants? We are eating at Be Our Guest and I would love to have a soup and salad instead of sugar! Thanks!

Greetings, Gabrielle, welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, we thank you for this excellent question about healthful food choices during your Walt Disney World Resort visit.

I have to admit, as a chronic dieter, I look forward to Disney's delicious indulgences during my vacation (especially those cupcakes), but you'll be pleasantly surprised with all the choice of fresh, healthy, not processed food options that will be available to you during your visit, Gabrielle. At Be Our Guest Restaurant, depending on the meal I always enjoy the Tuna Niçoise Salad, and for dinner, the Seasonal Sustainable Catch Du Jour with Seasonal Vegetables is a healthful choice.

May I offer some of my strategies for healthful eating?
    1) Opt for fresh foods, such as fruit and vegetables.
    2) Food Courts offer salads, soups, boiled eggs, pitas, and hummus.
    3) Ask for sauces/dressings on the side, substitute vegetables and fruit for french fries.
    4) Ask that your meat is cooked by grilling, not in oils or butter.
    5) Ask for half-portion sizes for entrees or share where possible.
    6) Eat a healthy breakfast.
    7) Call ahead at (407) 824-5967 for set-menu, Table-Service dining for healthier options.
    8) Email Walt Disney World Resort Special Diets at SpecialDiets@DisneyWorld.com

Gabrielle, please peruse through the Disney Dining Restaurants where you can open up the attached menus in order to get a sense of what awaits.

I will be visiting soon too, and plan on wearing my step tracker and drinking my water. You'll be both surprised and pleased to see how easily you can surpass your daily maximum steps during your visit.

We hope this information is helpful and wish you a positively magically delicious vacation, Gabrielle!
