I've been trying to make dining reservation for my dd's 1st birthday the 1st week of December but there's nothing available? Am I just trying too soon or could all the good ones be filled?! Trying for breakfast at Chef Mickeys or Tusker House w/Donald.

    Hi Jennifer,

Happy Birthday to your daughter!  Our family will also be down that week celebrating a birthday.

Nope, you're not trying to soon.  Right now, dining reservations for December can be made 90 days in advance.  That means, many guests made their reservations at the beginning of September, and the most popular restaurants fill up almost immediately.

A lot of guests tend to make reservations for more than one restaurant on a given day.  Generally, the more considerate guests will cancel reservations they don't need as their itineraries start to take shape, opening up tables for other guests.

My advice is keep trying.  You never know when something might open up.  In fact, we'll be doing the same thing -- our family couldn't get reservations to Chef Mickey's or Tusker House either.  Good luck!!

If you can't get these reservations, there are some other great character dining options:  Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh or 'Ohana with Lilo & Stitch are both fun places to dine.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
