We are trying to decide on staying at the A.Kingdom or the BC Towers this July for 5 days. There will be 6 of us (4 kids who love animals) but I want ease of getting back and forth to the parks throughout day for afternoon swim. We will have a car.

If you have a car and have children who love animals, I'd vote for the Animal Kingdom.  It is such a unique experience to have zebras and giraffes as well as many other animals outside your balcony; I don't know of anything that can compare to it.  And not only is the animal experience amazing, but also the resort itself is beautiful.  When we've stayed there, our children have enjoyed being part of the many animal activities offered throughout the day such as flamingo feeding, animal tracking, night vision viewing (to name a few).

With your own car, you'll have more control over coming and going to take breaks in the afternoon.  The Animal Kingdom is actually just minutes away while Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios aren't too far either.  The longest drive will be to the Magic Kingdom, but I think the magic of the animal experience will make up for it.
