Hi, trying to decide between Spirt of Aloha or Hoop Dee Doo; have DD7 & DD5 & DH. Will be paying out of pocket , also what is the best seating catagory to sit in? Is #1 worth the money or can you still have a great time in a 2 or 3? Thanks

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Shelley!

Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show (SOA) & the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue (HDDR) are both great shows. I have 2 younger boys & they really enjoyed both. Based on my personal experiences, here are some things to think about before making your decision.

Of the 2, I think my boys enjoyed the food more at HDDR. They also got a big kick out of how the food was "presented" at the tables.  The music at HDDR was fun & lively but I think some of the comedy was a little over their heads. They enjoyed singing & clapping along & got a big kick out of the audience participation. We also enjoyed walking around outside of Pioneer Hall before & after the show so it felt like more of an adventure.

SOA does have a limited Children's Menu for kids that may not want the traditional tropical feast served.  Whenever possible, we like to be as true to the experience as possible but next time, they will likely go with something from the Children's Menu. My boys loved the fire twirlers at SOA & felt that alone was worth the price of admission.

If you choose HDDR, I think you're okay with most any of the seating. The performers do come around through Category 1 & 2 Seating.

If you choose SOA, I think its worth the money to pay for Category 1.  With their set-up, you get a much better view of the stage in that area especially when you have little ones in your party that might not be able to see over someone's head.

Also take into consideration what time of year you're traveling. SOA is covered but completely open air so weather will play a big part in your comfort during the show. HDDR is inside but you do have a bit of walking to get there from where the buses drop you off so keep that in mind if its raining.

I hope that helps you make the best decision for your family. Wishing you minnie magical memories! Allison
