We are trying to decide which resort would be best and have narrowed it down to AKL and CBR pirate rooms. I've heard negatives about bus transportation at both. Which do you recommend based on transportation?

Ahoy Julie! As much as I love the pirate themed rooms at the Caribbean Beach Resort I would choose the Animal Kingdom Lodge any day!

The pirate rooms are all located in the Trinidad South Island.  This is one of the furthest areas from the Old Port Royale Centertown where you would find the food courts as well as the shops and main pool.  There are about seven bus tops within the resort making it a long trek to anywhere outside you wish to get to for the day.  When staying at the Animal Kingdom resort there is only one bus stop for the entire place so getting out of and back to the resort is much quicker.  This resort is rather large so you might want to request a room close in to the lobby area.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort so it will have added amenities such as restaurants, spas, and children's programs.  You will enjoy just sitting in the lobby or listening to the stories from the cast who have come to Disney from their homelands in Africa.  The Caribbean Beach resort really does not have a lobby and the main meeting area there would be the Old Port Royale Centertown which is busy and noisy.

    Hands down....Animal Kingdom Lodge!
