Hiya Lorie,
Welcome to planDisney! Thank you so much for your question about one of my absolute favorite topics,
Walt Disney World Resort dining! In my family, we take dining seriously. Every time I visit Walt Disney World, I spend days pouring over all of the online menus trying to pick the best dining reservations for my family and me.
The menus on the Walt Disney World website and mobile app are typically the best places to get an idea of what allergy-friendly options are available to you during your visit. It can be a little tricky to find since it is not always obvious. Let’s take, for example,
Steakhouse 71 (one of my favorite dining locations). Within the My Disney Experience mobile app and online, you have to scroll below the wine selection to locate the section marked “Allergy-Friendly” to find the available options. Once you find that, you have to read the notes in parentheses in the item description to see whether the item is designated for gluten/wheat allergies. Not every option is gluten-free as well (Steakhouse 71, for instance, only has five lunch appetizers, five entrees, and one dessert option for lunch). With that being said, in my experience, there are often gluten-free options at dining locations, but they may not be listed in the online menus. For example, you can request gluten-free options at
Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria and
Biergarten Restaurant, but that is not indicated in the online menu. One last tip for you to consider is reaching out to the Walt Disney World Resort Special Diets team at 407-824-5967. The Cast Members on this team could help you navigate Disney Dining and find yummy dining choices that consider your dietary needs.
I hope this was helpful, Lorie, and that you find the information you need to make incredible dining choices. We are always here to help if you need it!
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
