I am trying to decide between the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and PO Riverside for Nov. 2014. We stayed at POR last year so we know the pros and cons there. Can you help me with the other two? We have already narrowed it down and are stuck now.

    Hi Elisa,

I've just returned from a great stay at the Polynesian that included a visit to the Wilderness Lodge for dinner, so both are fresh in my mind..

One of the main attractions to the Polynesian is the convenience. Our room was an easy walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center. It was so simple to get to the monorails to Magic Kingdom and Epcot and to the buses to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. The monorail stop in the Great Ceremonial Hall is more centrally located.

We often enjoy the restaurants of the Polynesian, even when we're not guests there, and it was a great bonus to be able to watch the fireworks from the resort.

If I had any complaints, it was that the area where we stayed -- because of its proximity to the TTC and the ferryboats to Magic Kingdom -- was a bit noisy, and there is construction in that part of the resort now.

We're also huge fans of the atmosphere and restaurants of the Wilderness Lodge and likely will choose it next year. It is especially beautiful decorated for the holidays, and we enjoyed sitting in front of the lobby fireplace after our dinner at Artist Point. Even though Wilderness Lodge is near Magic Kingdom, it always feels remote and quiet.

The price of that secluded feel, I think, is a little more inconvenience. The main connection to Magic Kingdom and the monorails is by water taxi. The boats are relatively small and take a bit of time to load and unload. And, if they get off schedule as they did the night we visited, the wait can be long.

Buses also connect Wilderness Lodge with the theme parks and Downtown Disney.

I'm not sure I've helped. For me, the deciding factor would be how much time you plan to spend at Magic Kingdom. If the answer is "a lot," that would probably tip me toward the Polynesian.

I'm limited on space, but feel free to write me back if I can elaborate on either resort. Happy planning!
