    Trying to decide between the Hoop Dee Doo Revue or Mickey's Backyard BBQ for our trip this summer. My kids will be 9,6, and 2 years old. I have been to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, but never with my family and I have never been to the BBQ?

    Hi Allison! This is a tough decision as I have experienced both and love them both for different reasons.

    Mickey's Backyard Barbecue will offer your children some up close and personal character greetings. This is not a time for autographs but they will have a chance for some photo possibilities and certainly will be dancing with their favorite Disney character throughout the evening. For the younger ones they might find the crowds on the dance floor intimidating so there are always two characters placed on the sides for a more controlled meeting. There is also more entertainment such as a roper, live band, and other surprises. They try to interact with the children throughout the evening.  The food is basically the same at both locations but at the Backyard Barbecue it is buffet style and you will be sharing a table with others. It is definitely more laid back. 

    The Hoop Dee Doo Revue is the longest running show in the country. It is one of our favorites and we try to go when we are staying in Fort Wilderness. It is inside so the weather is never an issue and you will be seated at your own table and served the great barbecue menu. The entertainment sometimes has some humor above children's heads and the adults might enjoy this more but they also use guests for part of the show and the kids love this.

    To decide which to book will be hard so look at what kind of experience you might want for the kids. With a two year old the Backyard Barbecue will allow you to move around and not worry about children who are wanting to be out of their seats. But if it is during really hot months or cold months the indoor show is the way to go!
