I am trying to decide if the D-Plan makes sense for our family of 6. We would like to eat 2 meals/day at our FW cabin. We would like to attend Hoop-de-doo & 2 of us a Cinderella meal, and give 3 hungry teen boys options in the park. Opinions?

    Hi Jacqueline,

That sounds like a great vacation.  Its been about 5 years since I stayed in the Fort Wilderness Cabins.  We had so much fun during that trip and we loved having our own cabin to come home to every night.

If you know that you will definitely eat two meals every day in the cabin, the meal plan may not make sense.  When we go WDW on the dining plan, we usually pay for Cinderella's Royal table out of pocket, because its not twice as expensive as a typical table services restaurant.

That being said, you may find that you don't want to come back to your cabin every day in the afternoon for lunch.  In that case, the dining plan will give you the flexibility to eat at the counter service locations mid-day and enjoy the finer restaurants in the evening.

An alternative plan would be to dine at the nicer table service restaurants at lunch time and then make dinner back at the cabin.  Lunches throughout WDW are less expensive than dinners, but the quality of the food is just as good.  Again, it might not be financial advantageous to use the dining plan to cover table service lunches.

They are a few pro and cons to your family getting the dining plan.  Mainly, it would be easy for your boys while they are wondering around WDW by themselves to use the dining credits.  However, it might not save you much money unless you end up using it more than you plan.

    I hope that help,
