We are trying to decide if we continue staying on site for a week (Port O-Riverside), or switch to just two days. What does the cancellation policy look like, we paid for the insurance. Also, if we want to do 2 days how do we switch that with reservations?

    Greetings, Emily!

Welcome to planDisney! I am so excited to hear that you will be staying at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort later this year. This location is one of my favorites for a variety of reasons. This resort has a laid-back vibe with plenty of charm, making it a great choice for a mid-day park break. The swimmin' hole on Ol' Man Island is an amazing feature pool with easy access to the Muddy Rivers pool bar. (A great spot for a refreshing poolside drink!) This beautiful resort also offers five additional pools, on-site pole fishing, and you can even spend the evening enjoying a horsedrawn carriage ride.

Guests staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel also enjoy a variety of exclusive benefits in addition to the unique features of the resort they choose to call their home away from home. Early theme park access, complimentary transportation, and the ability to book Individual Lighting Lanes at 7 AM are just a few of the many benefits of staying on property. Should you choose to spend your entire visit at this magical spot, you can even book your dining reservations at the 60-day mark, plus an additional nine days out. This may give you the ability to grab that hard-to-get reservation you're hoping for during your magical stay.

If you decide to change your plans and switch to a two-day stay, you can do so up to 30 days prior to your arrival. Changes can be made in My Disney Experience through the Walt Disney World website. (These changes cannot be made on the My Disney Experience mobile app.) Choose the My Plans option from the My Disney Experience drop-down menu. This page should list all of your itinerary details, including your resort information. Next to your hotel confirmation will be a Change Reservation link. Select this to proceed. You will see a variety of change options available, including travel dates. Change the dates to the two-day trip you wish to switch to, and follow the remaining prompts to complete the changes. It should only take a few moments. If you are modifying your vacation package, the insurance that your purchased will remain on the package and cover the two-day trip.

When you cancel a package completely, it is important to note that the insurance is non-refundable. If you wish to cancel the package you can do so up to 30 days before arrival with no penalty (minus travel protection plans and third-party purchases). My pro tip is to set a reminder before that 30-day mark if you know that a two-day trip is a better fit! After 30 days you can still make these changes, but change fees may apply.

Whether your trip is two days or the full week, I truly hope that it is memorable and magical!
    We'll see ya real soon!
