Trying to decide which Character meal to choose. Staying at Old Key West (4 adults and 4 kids) Which would be the most convenient to get to? Do you have to enter the Magic Kingdom to have access to the monorail?

    Hi Alexis!

When planning our meals, I like to to create an itinerary of where we will be each day of the vacation. If we'll be in the Animal Kingdom in the morning, then breakfast with Donald Duck at the Tusker House would be a top option.

If it's a dinner reservation, you may be back at your resort for a rest and then looking for evening entertainment. If you are headed to a park for the night, choose a meal that is at or near the park in which you are headed. If you are going to the Magic Kingdom, I would take the bus from Old Key West to the Magic Kingdom bus depot. From there, walk over to the Contemporary Resort for dinner at Chef Mickey's. Or head into the park for a meal at the Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh and friends.

You do not enter the Magic Kingdom for monorail access. The Monorail station is located outside the turnstiles.

It sounds like you are interested in a character meal outside of a park. Perhaps it's your first evening at Walt Disney World! If so, I would highly recommend Chef Mickey's. After dinner, you can take a round-trip ride on the monorail before heading back via bus to Old Key West. For a meal with princesses, take the bus to the Magic Kingdom, then monorail (or boat) to the Grand Floridian for dinner with Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare!
