Trying to decide b/t stay at AKL & Pop resorts during free dining late Nov '14-Know I'm comparing Deluxe & Value, but main deciding factor will be transportation. How do the transportation times/waits compare? Kids 15& 8, most time to be spent

    Hi Kandy,

This is a great question and transportation can definitely be an important factor in the decision making process. So, I can completely respect your wanting to choose the best option for your family.

I would say that Disney's Pop Century Resort is a little more centralized in location, where Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the western-most sites on property. What this means is that transportation to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios is going to be slightly shorter from Disney's Pop Century. It is about the same time/distance to Magic Kingdom from both. Because Disney's Animal Kingdom is obviously located adjacent to Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, that one is quicker to get to from that resort rather than Disney's Pop Century. Do keep in mind that travel times could vary based on traffic and time of day. Buses at both resorts typically arrive every 20 minutes for each destination. Again, this could vary based on traffic and time of day, as well.

One great tool that I have used before when trying to figure out how much time I need to factor in for getting to a particular destination from another one is the "transportation wizard" at www.ourlaughingplace.com. The link is in the upper right hand corner of the website. From there you can input your starting and ending spots and it will determine the different routes via car, bus, boat (if applicable), and monorail (if applicable) and list the average time for each. Keep in mind that these are average travel times and do not necessarily include the time spent waiting for the transportation.

I hope this helps you choose the best resort for your magical vacation. Feel free to stop back by and ask more questions. We're here to help.
