Trying to decide on bag for park - have a large zip-top tote, debating on getting either a drawstring backpack (too small?) or an across the body messenger style bag instead. Will be packing for 2 kids (7and 4) and dh and I. Which would be best or recomm?

    Hi Janice,

The bag issue is always one to ponder because you just get tired of carrying stuff around no matter the size of the bag. How much stuff will you be carrying? If you have a lot of stuff I suggest the messenger type bag to more evenly distribute the weight of the bag, so that you can make it through your vacation minus a backache. The messenger type leaves your hands free as well.

I have many kids and here is what I do. I buy each of them, even the younger ones, small drawstring backpacks before we leave home. Every one carries their own bag. It is part of their outfit each day. I put a rain poncho in each one and something for each of the kids in their respective bags. Dad and I switch off carrying ours where we keep the sunscreen, my extra shoes, snacks, money etc, I found that the kids don't mind carrying a light non cumbersome drawstring bag as long as their hands are free and the bag is not to heavy. The kids can usually keep the bags on during most  rides and attractions, so they rarely get lost. This solution works so that you are not literally left "carrying the bag" all vacation long. The draw back of the individual drawstring bags: everyone has to go through bag check before going through the park entrances.  I hope this suggestion brings a little pixie dust to your vacation planning. Have fun!
