Hi Christopher,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am always delighted to greet a fellow North Carolinian!
Although crowd levels can fluctuate from year to year, there are a number of online crowd calendars that provide some guidance. I have used most of them to compare projections. There are a few events to always consider when making your decision. First, I always check runDisney events. For 2019, the runDisney Marathon Weekend is January 9 - 13. The
Star Wars Rival Run Challenge is scheduled for April 4 - 7. So, it looks as if you will not have additional crowds for either of those events during your date options although runners could start arriving early for the January run dates.
Second, I consider the different festivals that may happen during our visit. Most of the time, we want to attend these, but you may want to avoid them if crowds are a concern. The
Epcot® International Festival of the Arts is scheduled for January 18 - February 25, 2019 and the
Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival is scheduled for March 6 - June 3, 2019. So, your April dates would coincide with the Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival. I actually love this festival though, so you may want to consider it!
Finally, since I am an educator, I also consider when Spring Break might be for schools. Since the Easter holiday falls on April 21, 2019, many schools may do Spring Break that week prior to Easter. Given this, I would say that your January dates may be less crowded. Having said that, also consider the weather. When I visited last January at about the same time, it was COLD!
Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
Donyell
