We are trying to choose between Wanyama safari tour at AKL and the Wild Africa Trek offered at AK park. Interested in opinions from someone who has experienced both. We will be staying at AKL. TIA.

Hi Pamela! This is a tough choice you are giving me. Both of these tours are spectacular in their own right and very different.

The Wanyama tour is very nice and it is located right at the Animal Kingdom Lodge making it very convenient. You will have the chance to talk to animal experts and get up close to some of the Savannah animals who make their home there while riding in a safari vehicle. I have actually had the opportunity to enjoy a real life safari in Africa on an Adventures By Disney trip and Disney replicates this experience very well with their different tours. You will end with a wonderful meal at Jikos and can enjoy some adult beverage to end your day.

The Wild Africa Trek is definitely quite different and not as luxurious in many ways. You will be in a harness for the first half of the trek and enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and walking across rope bridges. What makes this very exciting is that you can actually see up close the hippos and walk across some mighty big alligators while on a swinging bridge. The food that is offered is very good but not a complete meal as offered at Jikos.

Now if I was to choose between the two of them, and it is a personal choice, I would definitely book the Wild Africa Trek again. This is just such a unique experience doing things that you can't do anywhere else that I know of. Watching hippos being fed right under your eyes, seeing the size of the massive gators, and stopping to watch animal interactions any time you wish while in your safari car. Although the regular safari is a wonderful ride they can't stop at their will to observe and learn about each animal. I love the dining "hut" where you will stop to observe and eat Casually. They offer binoculars and extra walkways where you can often see the rhinos, elephants, and lions in motion. You get the benefit of the entire regular safari plus all those extras. For me it is much more unique and it's why I would choose it first!
