We are trying to choose between the Contemporary and Polynesian for May 2025. Do you have any updates on the impact of construction at the Polynesian at that time? Thanks for any help you can give!

Hey Howdy Hey and welcome to planDisney!

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort are my top resorts to choose when vacationing at the Walt Disney World Resort. Both of these resorts are amazing for all of their amenities and different vibes. One of the biggest perks is their proximity to Magic Kingdom and ease to get to EPCOT which are my favorite parks as well! As you mentioned, construction continues to progress at the Polynesian so let's go over a few things to keep in mind when booking.

The Polynesian resort is currently undergoing a massive expansion. The Island Tower is set to open in December of 2024 and much of the construction work will be completed to allow Guests to begin staying in these rooms. Disney has announced that construction will be performed in some capacity through 2026, so this may impact your decision. While we don't know which projects will be done at which time, just knowing construction will be happening throughout 2025 is the least we can say.

I will say that on our last family vacation in the summer of 2024, we stayed at the Polynesian. While during the day we did hear some construction noise, this did not really impact any of our plans. The Magic was still alive and well during our stay without an impact.

At this time, the walking pathway from the Polynesian to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is open and with the opening of the Island Tower in December, we know more Guests will be allowed in more areas than they currently are. If you are opposed to any kind of construction noise, you may want to play it safe and stay at the Contemporary Resort and take a quick monorail ride to the Polynesian for a day visit.

I feel in each scenario, you will be sure to have a Magical time on your upcoming holiday. I am sorry I cannot give you more details on the status of construction, but as the days get closer, social media will be sure to give you the latest updates on more of a weekly and detailed basis. Please stop back if you have any other questions!

    To Infinity and Beyond,
