Greetings, Josette!
Welcome to planDisney, friend! I cannot think of a better gift than a visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth. I am sure your friend will be so excited. Here's all you need to know about purchasing a ticket to Walt Disney World Resort as a gift, and what to do about dates when selecting your tickets.
When you
purchase a theme park ticket, you will need to pick a date to continue to check out! But Hakuana Matata, Josette. If you don't know what dates your friend would like to visit, you can select any date to get started. I recommend picking a date that will be a few weeks out from when you will be giving the gift (unless you know the timeframe that your friend will travel). I suggest picking a farther out date so that your friend has time to confirm her travel plans and make changes without an impending deadline. When you choose the ticket option and head to checkout online,
be sure to check the "This order will be a gift." option. You can also purchase the ticket in your name, and
reassign it to your friend through your
My Disney Experience account. Simply choose the ticket you wish to gift to your friend, and select the
Reassign option to change the Guest name on the ticket. You will need to
link your My Disney Experience accounts before you can reassign the ticket to this Guest.
Once your friend is ready to change the date of the ticket to their preferred travel date(s), they can do so through their My Disney Experience account (online or through the mobile app).
Changing your ticket online begins with selecting the
My Plans option from the My Disney Experience drop-down menu. Select the Tickets, Passes, & Memory Maker tab. The Guest will choose the ticket they wish to change and click the
Change Ticket link. Follow the remaining prompts to switch the dates. The change process through the mobile app is very similar. They will click the Tickets and Passes tile, and locate the ticket. Below the ticket will be a
Change Ticket option. Click this link to proceed with switching the dates.
Another option is a
Disney Gift Card for the amount of theme park tickets! This will give your friend the option to purchase the tickets with the date of their choice, without any changes needed.
After tickets are purchased and the magical dates are decided on, be sure to remind your friend to make their
Disney Park Pass reservations. All four theme parks require a reservation in addition to a valid theme park ticket. You can even check
which parks have availability online, before confirming your ticket dates!
I hope this information helps you pick the perfect ticket for the perfect gift!
Don't hesitate to stop back with any questions!
