Hi Neil and welcome back to planDisney.
Ok, first of all, if my husband were to buy me a Disney Gift Card for my birthday, I would be absolutely over the moon. That's surely brownie points for you, right there!
Whilst this is a great idea, especially as you have a visit to
Walt Disney World coming up later this year, unfortunately, it is not currently possible to purchase physical or, eGift Disney Gift Cards, from here in the UK.
As you quite rightly say, it is not possible for UK residents to purchase physical or eGift Disney Gift Cards from the US Disney Gift Card website (www.disneygiftcard.com) as the United Kingdom is not listed as a Country to select, once you reach the shipping section of the checkout stage.
In the past, it was possible to purchase gift cards from the UK Disney Stores however, these could only be used in UK Disney Stores and were not valid for use in the Disney Parks or anywhere else. The sale of these was, however,
temporarily paused, a good while ago now.
Although it's not quite the same, perhaps, you could consider purchasing a prepaid travel card or, getting some money changed into US dollars as a birthday gift for your wife, instead. I have done this for my children in the past and then ordered nice, personalised, Disney-themed money wallets from Etsy, to put the US dollars in.
I'm sorry that I wasn't able to completely answer your question on this occasion but, hope that my suggestions have been of some use. Please do feel free to re-visit us, here at planDisney, if we can be of any further help with the planning of your November trip. You can even a
sk me a question directly if you would like a UK perspective on anything.
Wishing you a magical holiday filled with memories which will last a lifetime!
Emma
