Welcome to planDisney Scott! Thank you for reaching out with your question. How exciting that you are planning a magical stay at
Walt Disney World Resort with your whole family! I’d be happy to help you navigate the room booking options so you can find accommodations that will comfortably fit everyone and make your visit as enjoyable and stress free as possible.
Disney’s room booking system is very particular about occupancy limits, which is why you’re having trouble booking a standard room online. Each resort has a maximum number of guests allowed per room type, and that maximum is based on both the room’s size and the number of beds. Most standard rooms at Value and Moderate Resorts, for example, can accommodate up to four guests, plus
one infant under the age of three in a crib or pack-and-play.
In your case, even though your 2-year-old and 6-month-old wouldn’t need traditional beds, the system still counts your party as six people total. Only
one child under three is allowed to stay in addition to the room’s stated capacity. That means your group technically exceeds the occupancy rule, which is why the website won’t allow you to proceed with a standard room booking. Disney’s rules are designed to comply with fire codes and safety standards, so even if it feels like you could comfortably fit, the system can’t make exceptions.
You do, however, have a few options. If you call
Disney Hotel Reservations directly, a Cast Member will be able to help you find a room that can accommodate your family or suggest other options.
Another possibility is to book a resort that offers rooms designed for larger families. For example, some Moderate resorts, like Port Orleans Riverside, have rooms with a fifth sleeper (a small pull-down bed) and can sleep up to five guests plus one infant under three. Some Deluxe resorts also allow five guests plus an infant.
If you’re open to upgrading, family suites at
Art of Animation or All-Star Music, or villas at Deluxe resorts, can easily accommodate your group while providing extra space and amenities like kitchenettes. Alternatively, you can book two connecting standard rooms, which would give you plenty of space while keeping everyone close together.
Scott, I hope this explanation helps you feel more excited and prepared as you plan your Walt Disney World stay with your family. With the right room choice, you’ll be able to relax, enjoy the parks, and create magical memories together that you’ll treasure for years to come. Thank you again for visiting planDisney with your question, and wishing you a truly unforgettable vacation full of laughter, wonder, and pixie dusted moments from beginning to end!
