Bright Suns Debbie,
I’m Ashley, a Human-droid relations specialist for planDisney, and I’m happy to answer your question about one of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort Experiences,
Savi’s Workshop-Handbuilt Lightsabers. I completely understand planning your entire visit around this out-of-this-world experience! These reservations are very popular and tend to go quickly, so I’m so sorry that you are having difficulty securing one for your upcoming visit.
At present, all Guests visiting Black Spire Outpost from the United Kingdom must call a Cast Member to make reservations for Savi’s Workshop (0800 16 90 730). As you noted, wait times have been really high to speak to Cast Members lately, even here in our little galaxy. I’ve found a lot of luck making my phone calls to Cast Members either earlier in the day when the lines open up or later in the evening. If you avoid peak hours such as lunchtime or immediately after work hours, the wait tends to be more manageable.
If you want to avoid the wait on hold, I have two other tips for securing Savi’s workshop that may work well for you. I’ll be honest that these can be a little riskier because you would have to travel to Batuu without a reservation already secured. There is also no guarantee that you will be able to secure your reservation.
Same-Day Reservations: While advanced reservations are highly recommended for Savi’s Workshop, some same-day reservations may be available, depending on availability. I’ve actually had to do this once because the advanced reservation I had no longer worked with my schedule. In this situation, when Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened for the day, I headed straight to Black Spire Outpost and located Savi’s hidden location, and asked one of the Cast Members if they had any reservations available for the day that I could switch to. The Force was definitely with me that day because they had a spot open up that I could fit into my itinerary perfectly.
Check back: Even though Savi’s is the most popular hot spot in the galaxy, reservations often pop up in the
My Disney Experience mobile app closer to 24-48 hours before you plan to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Guests must cancel reservations at least one day before to avoid a cancellation or no-show fee, so as their plans change, those reservations become up for grabs. Once you arrive in Orlando for your vacation, I recommend checking the My Disney Experience mobile app throughout the day (s) leading up to your Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Park Pass Reservation to take advantage of those last-minute cancellations. I will note that this isn’t a guaranteed way to secure reservations, but I have had success doing this in the past.
I hope this was helpful, Debbie and that you can book your reservation for your young Padawans. If you need anything, please reach out to us, and we can assist you in your future planning needs.
May the Force be with you!
Ashley F.
