Hi Dana,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question.
One of the reasons why I love
cruising with Disney so much is just how flexible they can be when it comes to deposits and payments, especially when inclement weather or other unforeseen events start to unfold. (That said,
travel insurance is always a good idea!)
From what I understand, the 72-hour hold is typically only reserved for travel agents who are making reservations on behalf of their clients. I’m told that there are no price point or itinerary restrictions, but that an individual Guest who is making a reservation without a travel agent may not be able to use this “hold” for their own reservation; the deposit is due immediately. My advice to you would be to either work with a travel agent if that 72-hour hold is important to you, or to
contact Disney Cruise Line directly to see what’s up. They’ll be able to give you a specific answer regarding the cruise you’re trying to book.
I hope my answer was helpful and allows you to eventually book the cruise of your Disney dreams! Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions. We’re always happy to help!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
