Trying to make the best of our short trip near Christmas. Do we have to stay in a WDW resort to do the Pirate Voyage? Is there seating (2 yr old will be tired after a long day)? Trying to garuntee good views w/large crowds, any other suggestions? Thanks

    Hi Jessica,

I believe you're talking about the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage. This humorous way to watch Wishes is a blast, especially for small kids who love characters. There is no requirement that you stay at a Disney resort hotel to participate in the Voyage. Anyone is welcome to make a reservation.

Any guest, on-site or off, should plan to make full use of Disney's FastPass+ system. This allows you pre-select your some of your ride times or make arrangements to sit in a reserved area for parades or fireworks. To learn more about this, log on to your account and explore the My Disney Experience tab.

When traveling at a busy time of the year, I make sure to have as many meals reserved as possible. This will both prevent you from having to wait in line to get food, and make sure that you take a break in an air-conditioned setting several times a day. With young kids, character meals are great for this.

Also, you absolutely MUST arrive at the park before it opens. On most days, the real crowds don't show up until 10:00 or 11:00 am. If you're at the parks early, it's often possible to accomplish 6-8 rides before this time, giving you a big head start on your park "to do" list.

I hope you and your family have a magical Disney vacation. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
