Trying to make ADR at Ohana on January 6, is it best to call everyday to see if someone cancels? Unable to get ADR to Ohana on the 5 nights we are there. Also we are celebrating a Birthday, what would be a great resturaunt to celebrate? 6 people

    Hi Cari!

I can understand the desire to eat at 'Ohana, one of our family's preferred restaurants with great food and good ambiance.

Calling every day may be taxing, so I would suggest calling a couple times each week to see if something turns up. Remember, you can also attempt to reserve the same reservations online, if calling every time may be arduous. But the Dining agents can get a broader view right on the call so I understand the calling over the online approach. Use both at your disposal...

As for restaurants on a birthday, each restaurant brings a nice blend to make that person's day a little extra special. Some may add a nice dessert for the birthday boy or girl at the end, others do confetti, a few might serenade the lucky person. This is totally at their discretion and sometimes is contingent on host, so no guarantees as to who does what. Some examples I can give is we ate at Kona Island recently (Polynesian also) and the couple next to us (one of which was celebrating her birthday) was presented a nice dessert with 1 candle on top. Chef Mickey's at Contemporary had confetti and Mickey stickers at our table when we were escorted to sit down (daughter's birthday). I was at Tomorrowland Terrace recently (quick service at Magic Kingdom) and members of the staff sang "Happy Birthday" to a little girl. Whispering Canyon (Wilderness Lodge) is a good locale just for the sheer rowdiness of the place. I think any of these (or others) can be a good experience for this person. Make sure to get a free "Happy Birthday!" button while at the park or resort as well :-)

    Hau'oli La Hanau (Happy Birthday)!
