Hi! We are tryin to save a bit of money on our trip and I was wondering if I can cook food in my room. Alos are you able to get microwaves at AS Movie resort? Thank you! TIna

    Tina:

I'm a budget-minded mom like you and wish I could give you the o.k. on cooking in your room, but fire codes at Disney don't allow you to bring appliances like a toaster oven, etc.  The only microwaves at the All-Star Resorts come with the Family Suites at All-Star Music.  However, there are microwaves in the resort's food court if you're really wanting to count pennies.

Our family saves money on food costs by bringing non-perishables with us for breakfast like granola bars, trail mix, and beef jerky.  I'm guessing you're probably coming by car, so you might want to consider a stop at a grocery store on your way to the hotel and get bottled water, peanut butter, jelly, and bread.  Toss in a couple of bags of chips, pudding cups, and some fresh fruit, and you've got what you need for a few packed lunches for the parks.

The travel book, Disney on a Dime by Chris & Kristal Carlson actually has some strategies for making meals in your room and eating cheaply in the parks if you want to do some in-depth research!

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
