Hi Wendy,
It's always great to see you planning Disney at planDisney. My family visited Walt Disney World Resort earlier this month and I think you'll find our
virtual queue experience helpful, especially as it relates to
Extended Evening Theme Park Hours.
There are currently two attractions at Walt Disney World Resort that are accessed by a virtual queue instead of a traditional standby queue:
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT and
TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom Park. These attractions can also be experienced with an
Individual Lightning Lane purchase. Guests with a
theme park reservation for each attraction's corresponding park can attempt to join the virtual queue at 7:00 a.m. via the
My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the home page --> Virtual Queues) from anywhere. In fact, I joined the 7:00 a.m. virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind from my home in Virginia just a few weeks ago before catching a flight to
The Most Magical Place on Earth.
There's a second chance to join the virtual queue at 1:00 p.m., but everyone in your party must be physically in the theme park to do so. Up to one hour before attempting to join a virtual queue, you can and should confirm your party in the My Disney Experience mobile app. For the 1:00 p.m. virtual queue, only members of your
Family & Friends List that are physically in the park will appear for selection.
Guests eligible for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours can confirm their party for the 6:00 p.m. virtual queue as early as 5:00 p.m. Like with the 7:00 a.m. virtual queue, you can join the 6:00 p.m. virtual queue from anywhere. When confirming my party for both Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run's 6:00 p.m. virtual queue, I was in my room at Disney's BoardWalk Inn. In my case, my three family members, who were in the hotel room with me, appeared for selection, but I did not. I took a screenshot, secured a Group number for my family members, and followed up with the Guest Experience Team in the parks. A Cast Member told me this technical glitch can sometimes occur for Guests trying to join the 6:00 p.m. virtual queue when they are not physically in the theme park. In both cases, I showed my screenshot to the Cast Member at the attraction entrance and my spot in the virtual queue was honored. I bet they'll have this Stitch-uation figured out by the time you visit, Wendy, but I want you to be aware in case an additional screenshot is required.
Extended Evening Theme Park Hours were the most memorable part of my family's Walt Disney World Resort vacation. We got our very own boat for a midnight sailing on "it's a small world." Talk about a core memory! When experiencing attractions during Extended Evening Theme Park Hours, each Guest in your party should be prepared to scan their method of entry (MagicBand, MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or admission card).
Thanks for stopping by planDisney's magical corner of the internet. Hope to see you again real soon!
Choose magic,
Jennifer
