I have to try & prevent my son from being exposed to water (not just obvious forms like splash mountain, but also mist, spritz, water vapor- think smoke/fog machines). Tips on rides & shows to avoid? Any water is a concern TY

    Hi Emily,

Welcome to the Disney parks Moms Panel! Walt Disney World is where families go to immerse themselves in magic and fantasy and leave the “real world” behind. Let’s get you as much information as we can so you can enjoy every minute of your vacation and feel confident that you’re doing everything you can to keep your sweet son safe.

As Walt Disney famously said, “it’s kind of fun to do the impossible” – and that’s what the Imagineers who built Walt Disney World have done, adding tons of fun touches to keep guests cooled off in the Orlando heat. My children love being surprised by a cooling blast of water from the camel on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin or the mist coming from “the backside of water” on Jungle Cruise, but there are Guests for whom these water elements aren't so magical. Because you encounter water in so many places around the parks, I can’t provide an exhaustive list. Your best bet is to call Disability Services at (407) 560-2547; they will be able to fully assist you. You can also ask the Cast Members at the entrance to every ride and show about exposure to water and mist. While I know it won’t get you to “Hakuna Matata” status, hopefully this can help you feel prepared and more at ease.

Many shows feature 4D effects, which can include bubbles or mist. You will encounter water screens at Fantasmic!, which give off a mist, and there is a possibility of being splashed. Several attractions are boat rides; while you do get splashed a little on some, another concern is that the seats are often wet on these rides. Despite all these cautions, there are lots of attractions and shows that don't involve water, so I know you and your son are going to have a fabulous time!

I’m wishing you and your son a magical and safe vacation,
    Robyn
