Hi Jaynee!
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am also a mom to a little Mouseketeer with food allergies and, just like you, I like to get a good idea of how restaurants can accommodate him prior to our trip. My favorite place to scope out menus is in the Walt Disney World Resort section of allergyeats.com. You can enter the allergy you are accommodating and the resort area to determine what food locations will be able to best accommodate you. They also include Guest reviews of each restaurant to help you get an idea of people's experiences. I searched gluten-free and Magic Kingdom to find
Liberty Tree Tavern and found reviews from many Guests with gluten allergies who had fantastic experiences there.
For our table-service meals, we always note our special dietary request on our reservation. You can do this either when making the reservation online or by calling the dining reservation specialists at (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Once you get to the restaurant, you can speak with the chef and together, you can select a dining option for your son that is both safe and tasty!
When traveling with my son, I always bring an extra special treat with us, such as a chocolate bar or fruit snacks, that he can have just in case we encounter a treat that is not safe for him. It's not the same, but it is enough to hold him over until he can get his next dose of Disney magic. Check out the
Special Dietary Requests page for additional information on having a safe gluten-free trip!
T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
