Hi Rayna!
Welcome to planDisney! Let’s chat about Rider Switch with and without Lightning Lane services, and how I usually handle it all.
Typically, when using
Rider Switch with 2 adults and one baby, the first adult will wait in the standby queue for the attraction while the other adult waits with your little one. Once the first adult is done riding, it’s their turn to wait with the baby. The second adult will get to access the attraction via the Lightning Lane so that you don’t have two long waits.
Now, if you both want to enter the attraction via the Lightning Lane, then both adults will need a
Lightning Lane booked for that attraction. In that case, the first adult will get to use their Lightning Lane while the second adult waits with the baby. Then, you’ll switch, and the second adult will get to enter the attraction using their Lightning Lane while the first adult waits with the baby.
The only time I use Rider Switch with Lightning Lanes is if we’re close to the end of the return time, and I think we might not both make it through before our Lightning Lane expires. Otherwise, if we have plenty of time, we just opt to use our Lightning Lanes as usual without taking the time to set up Rider Switch.
No matter which route you take, you will want to speak with the Cast Member at the entrance to the queue to get Rider Switch all set up prior to the first adult entering the queue.
I hope that all makes sense! If you have any other questions while you continue to plan, feel free to
come back and visit us!
