Is it true that the Sword and the Stone ceremony has been cancelled, as it is currently featured in the latest WDW commercials? Also if not discontinued, how do we register our children?

    Hi Veronique!

The Sword in the Stone is one of those overlooked, magical experiences in Walt Disney World.  No trip to Magic Kingdom Park is complete without trying to pull the sword out of the stone.  It's so much fun to watch everyone take a shot at it.

I have not seen or heard of Merlin conducting his magical ceremony at the Sword in the Stone for about a year now.  However, I have seen magical moments when the sword has been pulled "out" of the stone by a random lad or lass who just happens to walk by and try. (The sword never leaves the stone, instead it goes about three-quarters of the way out.  I believe they took some liberties with the advertisement you're seeing.)

These moments are completely random and there's no way to know who the Sword will chose to be "the one" who can remove it from the stone.  It's sure fun trying either way!  Have your children try and see what happens!  It makes for a great photo opportunity.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Ashley
