    Is it true that Space Mountain will be closed in July 2009? This is the ride I want to go on the most during my honeymoon. The last time I was at Disney was when I was four years old and couldn’t ride it then! Please tell me this rumor isn’t true?!?!!?

    Hi Amanda!

         You are joining the rest of my very disappointed family!  Unfortunately, Space Mountain will be closed for refurbishment from April 19, 2009 until sometime late in 2009.  It seems like an awful long time for the Disney crew to be working on this old favorite, but I guess it needs a good bit of spiffing up!

         Don't worry!  I'm not sure how old you are, but if you were only four years old the last time you visited WDW, then a LOT has changed.  Two new parks, Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios, have brought tons great attractions with them.  I realize that Space Mountain is nostalgic for you, but be sure to check out Expedition Everest and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.  Talk about fun!

         Be sure to pick up some of those cute bride and groom Mickey ears while you are there.  My husband and I wore them on our honeymoon and got so many warm wishes!  To see the complete list of rehabs and closures, please check out these operational updates.  Oh well, just tell your husband that you need to ride Space Mountain on your first anniversary !!!
