Is it true that autistic children can no longer get a special pass? My son cannot wait in lines, and I heard that Disney has changed their policy? Once in the ride he loves the visual stimulation but he cannot stand still in a line. He has fits and tantrum

Hi, Johanna!  Walt Disney World has changed the way in which guests with various disabilities are accommodated.  Beginning this week, there will no longer be a Guest Assistance Card, however the new Disability Access Services card will help you avoid lines.

The card, available at Guest Services, can be taken to the various attractions.  A cast member at the attraction will give you a return time based on the wait time for the attraction.  While you wait, you can go visit another attraction with a shorter wait time, browse gift shops, get a bite to eat, or rest and wait in an area more comfortable for your son.

The new program, developed with input from a variety of disability agencies, including Autism Speaks, has really been designed to give all guests the most magical experience possible.  I hope your experience with the new program provides you with a wonderful vacation!
