Our 1st trip to WDW is set for 1st wk of Jan. We're taking our 7 y/o boy, 4 & 3 y/o girls & planning 6 park days. What are 2 parks we should visit twice & ideas for our non-park days (based on the kids ages)? Can we plan on a pool day, or is it

    Hi Lindsey,

We've visited WDW many times in January and the weather is absolutely - variable. We've had vacations where we were sweating due to the heat and others freezing due to the cold. We've had to wear winter coats and shorts - not on the same day but definitely in the same week.

I would watch the forecast as you pack. As your vacation dates get closer, you can take away shorts and add more pants or add more shorts and take away cooler weather clothes as needed. This time of year is all about layers. You may start of the day with cold temps and find yourselves in shorts by mid-afternoon.

The two parks that you should visit twice are the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Both parks require  more than one day to really delve into their shows and attractions. One day for Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios should be enough.

Non-park days: If it's warm, I would plan a pool day but you'll have to wait and watch the temps. Pools are heated year-round to 82 which is usually good enough for the kids unless it's an extremely cold day.

Go to Fort Wilderness to see the horses, visit Downtown Disney for the Lego store and a meal, go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge to view animals from Arusha Rock, rent bikes, take the monorail to the Polynesian and watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach, visit a hotel such as the Wilderness Lodge for a fun meal (Whispering Canyon) and more!

    Enjoy a wonderful vacation!
