Hello! We are going on a trip to WDW with extended family members. Some of us are staying at Coronado and others at the Polynesian. Are we able to hang out together in each other's pool areas so we can enjoy time together?

Hey there, Dani! Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for sharing your splash-tastic question with us.

Whenever my family is debating which Walt Disney World Resort hotel to stay at, the pool might be our most important consideration. OK, our budget is probably the most important consideration, but that’s way less fun to talk about.

As great as it would be to have a family pool party, I’m sorry to report that Walt Disney World hotel pools are reserved for guests staying at that particular hotel. So no “pool hopping,” unfortunately. In many cases, hotel pool areas require a MagicBand+ or Key to the World card to enter. Some resorts located near each other (sometimes called “sister resorts”), such as Port Orleans - Riverside and Port Orleans - French Quarter, or Yacht and Beach Club, share pools or allow guests to use both resorts’ amenities. However, that’s not the case with Coronado Springs and Polynesian Village Resort.

If you're looking for a way to splash and play with the whole extended family, I’d recommend visiting one of Walt Disney World’s awesome water parks. Blizzard Beach is currently closed for refurbishment, and Typhoon Lagoon’s hours are not yet available for February; however, one of them is usually open during the winter season. I’d check the Hours & Events calendar as your trip approaches, or keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for news and updates.

Dani, I hope you and your extended family have a wonderful visit to Walt Disney World. Pop right back if you have any other trip planning questions. Your planDisney pals are always happy to help!

    Magical travels!
