Our 2nd trip to WDW is booked!!! We are going April 15, 2014 and staying at the Boardwalk Villas. I was wondering if there are any tips for traveling during the Easter Holiday. Any idea if the MyMagic bands will still be in test mode then? Thanks

    Hi Elizabeth,

My family often travels to Walt Disney World at Easter. Easter season can be very crowded. Since this is your second visit to Walt Disney World, you may already have an idea of what parks you would like to visit and what attractions you would like to experience. I recommend that when you allow each member of your family to choose two attractions that are "must do" at each theme park. Once you accomplish this list, everything else is a bonus and no one is allowed to be upset! I recommend getting to the theme parks early; even 30 minutes before opening time. Crowds are at their lowest early in the morning. Finally, start making dining reservations. Easter is on April 20, 2014, so we are already within the 180-day window for making dining reservations. Since this is a busier time of year, I recommend that you make these as soon as you can. You can do so by calling (407) WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) or by visiting Disney Dining online.

Walt Disney World often offers extra activities on and around Easter. Check your packet when you check in to Disney's BoardWalk Villas and you should find a list of activities taking place at the resort on Easter, which might include Easter crafts and egg hunts. As you get closer to your travel date, keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog. This is where activities for special events such as Easter are often announced. In years past, guest have been able to meet Mr. and Mrs. Bunny in the Magic Kingdom, or take part in egg hunts in Epcot.

The MagicBands are currently in testing, and I do not have any information on when testing mode will be complete or the plans for the rest of the testing. Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for information. Also, be sure to link your vacation plans using the My Disney Experience Website, and monitor this for possible information about your trip.

Have a great time planning your trip, Elizabeth, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
