1st trip. Staying at CBR. Getting there @ noon 8/28. Any 1st day ideas besides seeing Castle and Downtown Disney? Would like to take boat ride or monorail ride. No other plans for this day. Traveling with 3yo.

    Hi Aimee!

There is a great pool at the Caribbean Beach Resort so you could spend some time there.  You can also take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then get on the Resort Monorail or the Express Monorail; you can get to the monorail without entering the Magic Kingdom so you don't need a ticket.  Using the Resort Monorail, you can visit the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian Resorts.  Using either monorail, you can get to the Transportation and Ticket Center where you can then get on a monorail going to Epcot.  That's a very nice ride and you don't have to use a theme park ticket as the Epcot monorail station is outside Epcot; you can then cruise back to the Transportation and Ticket Center or just take a bus back to the Caribbean Beach Resort.

Another option is to take a nice boat ride on the Seven Seas Lagoon or Bay Lake.  The easiest way to do that is to still go to the Magic Kingdom by bus and then go to the boat launch area.  There will be boats going to the Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, the Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian.  The longest ride (just under 20 minutes long) is to take a boat from the Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness; again, you won't need to use a theme park ticket.

You should also consider going into the theme parks.  You didn't mention how many days you will be there, but if you are already there for several days, the cost of one more day isn't that much.  You can upgrade your tickets at your hotel or at Guest Services outside any of the theme parks.

Enjoy your first trip to the most magical place on Earth and write back if you have any more questions!
