Hello, Molly and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Molly, I'm so excited that your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth is getting so close! Having just returned from four days at Walt Disney World
wearing a face covering, I'm happy to chat with you about my experience and recommendations. Since Florida does tend to feel a bit like a sauna in the summer months, it's important to be prepared so you can focus on the fun.
My first recommendation would be to pack enough face coverings for everyone in your party to wear MULTIPLE IN ONE DAY. I found that changing approximately half way through the day helped to keep us feeling fresh and ready for
the next attraction. We used a combination of homemade and store bought cloth face coverings, those adorable Disney themed ones you can purchase in the parks or online through
Shop Disney and the paper disposable masks available at many locations such as pharmacies or grocery stores.
My husband was comfortable in all types, but I found as the day became hotter, I felt best in the paper disposable ones. On day two of our trip, I started out with my Disney face covering and then
after a late lunch changed into the paper disposable. I would encourage you to try out different types and fabrics prior to your trip to see what feels best for you. I really appreciated having a few in my park bag and knowing I could change to a different one if I started to feel really uncomfortable.
Molly, I would also encourage you to keep an eye out in the parks for shaded spots away from others where you can take a break and hydrate. Making sure to adhere to physical distancing, we stopped multiple times a day to sit on a bench, drink water and have a quick snack. While face coverings are required throughout the park and on all attractions, you are permitted to take them down while eating and drinking. Personally, I felt most comfortable doing this "off the beaten path" where we could relax.
My final recommendation is to purchase a travel size mild detergent to bring along with you. I did this so that I could wash out our cloth masks when we returned to our
Disney Resort Hotel and hang them to dry overnight.
Molly, I hope this helps as you are thinking ahead to September. While things are a bit different right now, the Magic is still alive and waiting for you. I don't mind saying that I wasn't sure what to expect, but was so happy to be able to enjoy all that's available at Walt Disney World right now. Please come on back and see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with any other questions you might have.
Best wishes for a pixie-dusted stay!
Lauren
