We have a trip scheduled for June. Since scheduling, my 13 year old has gotten her first cell phone and email. How can I get her set up with a My Disney Experience account and hook it up with the existing profile I have for her on our reservation?

Hey Howdy Hey Noelle and welcome to planDisney!

As a father of 3, I know how exciting it is to be part of watching your children grow up. Most times it happens too fast, but taking time to enjoy each other's company is a great way to slow things down. There is no better way than a trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth together! I will be happy to walk you through the steps to set up your daughter for her own My Disney Experience account.

The first thing you are going to want to do is to make sure that the information on your My Disney Experience account with your daughter's information is correct. Once you log into your account, highlight the My Disney Experience logo and click on "My Family & Friends". Once there, look for your daughter's name and click on settings. As long as the system picks up she is officially 13, you should see a link "Share Planning with (your daughter's name)". Click on that link and you will be asked to put in her email address. This will send her a link to set up her official account and take ownership of the account you created. You all will still be able to share plans only now, she will be able to make them! Not to worry though, you will still have the purchasing power, but if you do purchase Genie+ for the day, she should be able to make Lightning Lane reservations for your whole party.

With that last bit of information, this goes into a tip I have for you that our family has really enjoyed as our girls are getting older. We all love our trips to Walt Disney World and we all have our own things we enjoy about each trip. My wife and I will assign a certain part of the day during our trip where our girls do the planning on what we will be doing. They then have to do research into which attractions to experience or which dining or other entertainment options to consider.  They have always been part of the planning but now them being in charge of it, they love it and we see so much enjoyment with the experiences they planned. Just an idea to consider on your next trip!

I hope you enjoy the process of planning your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth! Please feel free to stop back if you have any further questions, we are always happy to help.

    Have a Magical day,

    Nick
