I have a trip scheduled to arrive December 14 2021 with a stay at Pop Century. I would like to be at Hollywood studios for rope drop on one of the days. Will it be quicker to drive to Hollywood studios myself, or take the sky liner?

Hello Denise and thanks for returning to planDisney with another great question for us!

I love spending the Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort which is one of the many reasons that I'm so excited to hEAR you already have a trip planned for this coming December staying at Disney's Pop Century Resort.  You're sure to have a poptastic time at this larger-than-life-themed Resort where Guests are surrounded by kitsch imagery and fads from the 1950s right up to the 1990s.  Plus of course, all the Disney Resorts Collection hotels, Disney Theme Parks, and Disney Springs will be resplendent in all their finest Holiday decor by the time you check-in on December 14th.

It sure sounds like you've already been making some pixie-dusted plans towards your December vacation by planning to be at Disney's Hollywood Studios as they open and get ahead of any possible crowds.  Generally speaking, Disney Resort Transportation including the Disney Skyliner begins service approximately 1 hour prior to scheduled park opening hours and ends around 1 hour after scheduled park closing time.  It's easy to check out all the currently scheduled hours by taking a peek at this handy Calendar

In my opinion, I would say that on the day you wish to make rope-drop at Disney's Hollywood Studios that perhaps by driving your own vehicle, you would get there in better time rather than using Disney Resort Transportation.  Plus, as a benefit of being a Guest staying in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel you will receive complimentary standard self-parking at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and in fact at all of the Disney Theme Parks and Disney Springs!

Denise, I truly hope I've been able to provide you with a little insight today.  If you did have any further questions about your December 2021 vacation to the most magical place on earth, then please do pop back to planDisney where I'll only be too pleased to help you once again.

Have a great Disney day ~ Jane
