Hi Audrey! Thanks for visiting us here at planDisney!
Audrey, I am so sorry to hear you may potentially have to reconsider your Walt Disney World Resort vacation plans. I can imagine that is so frustrating, having likely put so much thought and effort into planning a magical vacation for your family. I do feel your pain as I, too, have a visit coming up in just two short weeks, and with cases as prevalent as they are in my area, I am also worried about how this might impact my plans. While weighing my options, I've become quite familiar with the cancellation policies and would be happy to share with you want I have learned.
First, I think it may be helpful to summarize the Walt Disney World Resort cancellation policy, and then we can talk about options based on the specific details of your visit.
30 days or more:
- There are no cancellation penalties if you cancel a package more than 30 days before your scheduled arrival. You will receive a full refund on any amounts paid. This includes the cost of theme park tickets purchased via a room and ticket package.
- Theme park tickets purchased on their own via Walt Disney World are non-refundable.
- However, the value of these unused tickets will live under your profile and can be used toward a future visit. The value of your unused tickets does not expire.
29 days - 2 days:
- For a Disney Resort Hotel Package, if you cancel within 29 days to 2 days before your scheduled arrival date, you will receive a full refund, minus a $200 penalty per room. This includes the cost of theme park tickets purchased via a room and ticket package.
- Theme park tickets purchased on their own via Walt Disney World are non-refundable. However, the value of these unused tickets will live under your profile and can be used toward a future visit. The value of your unused tickets does not expire.
1 day or less:
- If you need to cancel your reservation 1 day before your arrival, the vacation package is non-refundable. This includes the cost of your theme park tickets.
- However, the value of these unused tickets will live under your profile and can be used toward a future visit. The value of your unused tickets does not expire.
Now, it is important to note that these policies are subject to change. However, at this time, since your arrival date is within the next two weeks, the latter two options would apply. Since circumstances can change minute by minute in these unprecedented times, I know it may be challenging to make a decision in advance. I would, however, recommend making the call, one way or another, at least two days before your visit to ensure you can receive at least a partial refund.
Should you have to make the tough decision to cancel your vacation, I recommend reaching out to the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations team at (407) 939-1936. One of the wonderful Cast Members here will be happy to help take care of this for you.
Rest assured, Audrey, if your Walt Disney World vacation gets postponed, I promise your future visit will be just as special! There is always something new and exciting to explore at Walt Disney World, and with The World's Most Magical Celebration running all through 2022, the magic will be waiting for you and your family!
I do hope everything works out as you had planned, Audrey. In the meantime, I will be here to help answer any questions you may have, so feel free to write us again!
Wishing you a magical day!
Diana
