We have a trip planned in May and have received our Magic Bands. Someone in our party isn’t going now, can his band be transferred to my son so he can take his place on the trip? If so, how do I do that?

    Hey there, hi there, Jennifer!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney where you're always as welcome as can be. I'm happy to assist a fellow Mouseketeer today. Let's talk about your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation!

When you customize a MagicBand in My Disney Experience, the MagicBand is linked to a specific Guest and cannot be transferred to another person. The good news is that the member of your party who will not be joining you can keep their personalized MagicBand to use on future trips. If it's a MagicBand+, it can be used at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, and since the battery is rechargeable, it should still work years from now at both locations.

It sounds like your group has already taken advantage of the pre-arrival MagicBand order, so if your son wants a MagicBand, you can purchase it online or once you arrive in Walt Disney World. Many retail locations, including the gift shop at your resort, will sell a variety of MagicBands. Large stores like Creations Shop in EPCOT, Emporium in Magic Kingdom Park, and World of Disney in Disney Springs will have the most extensive selection. My son doesn't like to wear anything on his wrist, so instead of bringing or buying a MagicBand, we request a Key to the World Card when checking in at our resort. It's complimentary and features a cute character design. He keeps it in his pocket and has an easier time hanging onto it than a MagicBand.

I hope this is helpful, Jennifer! May is a fantastic time to be in Walt Disney World. You'll arrive in time for the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, so if you plan to spend time in my favorite theme park, take a look at some of the offerings at this year's outdoor kitchens. I can't wait to sample the fresh flavors and creative dishes the chefs are cooking up this spring! Thanks for sending your question to planDisney, and we look forward to welcoming you "home" very soon.

    Cheers,
    Betsy
