Hello Sarah! I want to welcome you to planDisney and congratulate your entire family on checking off a bucket list item by staying at the beautiful, elegant, lavish, and magical
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It's not every day that you get to stay in one of the most iconic hotels in the Disney Resorts Collection, and you are about to embark on a unique experience and create unforgettable memories.
I still vividly remember every second and every delicious smell from the first time I saw the gingerbread house. It was during my mom's first international trip to celebrate her birthday, and we had breakfast at
1900 Park Fare. Before joining Alice and the Mad Hatter, there she was in all her glory: 10,000 pieces of gingerbread, 85 lbs. of chocolate, nutcrackers, toy soldiers, and hundreds of hand-painted snowmen by the Grand Floridian Bakery team. Did you know it takes around 500 hours to bake the gingerbread and 480 hours to decorate? Needless to say, we were all flabbergasted by this impressive display, and we try to come back and visit every year, even if we're staying in other Resorts.
At this time, we don't have an official date for Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa gingerbread house just yet. They usually release those details closer to the holiday season. But based on previous years, we can make a pretty good guess. In 2022, the display opened on November 9, and in 2023, it debuted on November 8, staying open to the public until January 1, 2024. Since you're arriving on November 3, if you're staying at least 5 days, chances are you'll be able to see the opening day this year if they follow the same pattern.
Just a heads-up, many other resorts will have incredible gingerbread displays and unique food offerings for the holidays. This includes Disney's Yacht Club Resort, Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Inn, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and one of my personal favorites every year,
Disney's Contemporary Resort. I highly recommend visiting some of these if you have the time.
I hope this helps, Sarah. I'll be wishing upon the holiday star that you and your group get lucky and accomplish everything you want on your upcoming trip. Feel free to come back anytime if you have more questions,
and keep us posted. It's always a great pleasure to help out our wonderful friends like you.
Cheers
Nilson
