Our trip is planned for Dec28-Jan2. We r staying off property. so we would like some advise on where to eat, especially in epcot. We would like to enjoy some counter service meals. We have done most of the sit down ones. What to try new places in all parks

    Jenny:

Youre probably smart to do a little research on counter-service restaurants in the park for your trip.  The week between Christmas and New Year's is very busy and reservations for those sit-down meals can be hard to come by!

The good news is that there are many counter-service restaurants at Disney World that offer far better fare than what you'd get at many popular fast-food restaurants outside the "world."  Here are a few of my favorites:

Epcot: We'll start there since you asked.  It's probably my favorite park for counter service.  At the top of my list are Tangierine Cafe (especially the hummus and vegetarian plate with tabbouleah and couscous); Sunshine Seasons gives you the most bang for your dining buck as our family usually gets their rotisserie chicken or seared tuna salad; lastly, Boulangerie Patisserie offers individual quiches and desserts that rival the pricier desserts of the table service restaurants!

Magic Kingdom: I'm partial to the chicken and rib plate at Cosmic Ray's, but it's the green beans that keep me coming back.  If you want a more quiet atmosphere, head to Columbia Harbor House and eat in its upstairs dining room.

Animal Kingdom: While my kids enjoy the pizza at Pizzafari, I opt for its Italian Sandwich.  Find a room in the very back for some quiet from the crowds.  If the weather is pleasant, check out the barbecue at Flame Tree and enjoy one of its tables outside under the trees.

Disney's Hollywood Studios: Studio Catering tends to be our stop because I enjoy its Greek Salad and there's always a seat under the large canopy.  On my last trip, however, I tried Starring Rolls and found the mile-high sandwiches very filling not to mention the HUGE rice krispy treats extra yummy.  It's well-known for breakfast bites, but I thought lunch was even better!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
