Our trip is in October. Likely busy with Star Wars galaxy edge month after opening. Still can't guarantee we won't be able to get into Hollywood Studios. Should I still plan on FP for other rides, like slinky dog?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Janelle!

2019 is a really exciting year to visit Walt Disney World Resort, right? There's so much happening! During your visit in October, the 2019 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing and you'll be able to try some delicious dishes from all around the world at the more than 30 Global Marketplaces that will pop up in Future World and World Showcase. Speaking of Epcot, there's going to be a brand new way to get there this year when the Disney Skyliner opens and begins transporting guests this fall. Finally, as you mentioned, there will also be the highly anticipated opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disney's Hollywood Studios on August 29, 2019.

When you're on vacation this October, I think it is very unlikely that you will need to worry about not being able to get into Disney's Hollywood Studios due to other guests wanting to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. There have been times when the theme parks hold off on admitting new guests for safety reasons due to capacity, but in my experience, it is very, very rare. If we look at the two most recent openings at Walt Disney World Resort, Toy Story Land, which is also in Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Pandora - The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom, it was not necessary to stop admitting guests into the theme parks at either one. Even though Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is a huge expansion with unprecedented interest, I don't anticipate you not being able to get in the gates of Disney's Hollywood Studios in October, so I definitely recommend getting a FastPass+ for Slinky Dog Dash if you want one!

Here's a tip: make sure to download the My Disney Experience app before you leave for your vacation. It will push notifications to your phone so you'll know if you need to change your plans for any reason.

    Have a magical day, Janelle!
