A trip for our honeymoon/first year anniversary and both my and my husband's birthdays. We both like games and have Disney game items we'd live to get signed by characters this stay. Can we get specific/special characters with a VIP tour?

Hiya Mariah - Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary and birthday trip to Walt Disney World Resort!

As a fellow gamer and Disney character connoisseur, I'd like to wish you a very Royal Welcome to planDisney; both you and your husband definitely sound like my kind of people! As you may already know, one of the best ways to really have an in-depth Disney experience tailored exclusively to you is by reserving one of the Disney Private VIP Tours. I had a chance to speak with one of the VIP Tour Guides recently about your desire to meet certain characters and receive autographs during the course of your (minimum 7-hour) quest, and here are a few bits of knowledge that I was able to glean from them:

    • When you begin your pre-arrival planning process with Disney VIP Tour Services, let them know whether you'd like to prioritize characters - especially if they're currently meeting and greeting in and around the Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts. Your itinerary can be customized around zooming past queues for a day full of hugs, high-fives (or high-fours in some cases) and autographs!
    • I recommend also letting your VIP Tour Guide team know which special character autographs you're on the hunt for, notably if they are rarer characters not currently making appearances. Even if you might not be able to meet them in person, I've personally experienced magic being made by some wonderful Entertainment Cast Members, as long as you know that this is something that can never be guaranteed.

There is also another way to celebrate special occasions and be able to specifically request certain character friends show up: I recently had a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding and transformed our reception into one huge escape-room style puzzle game with characters making a surprise 30-minute appearance an hour into the event!

However, since your birthday/honeymoon/anniversary doesn't necessarily fall under the umbrella of a Disney Wedding, you can still hold a super-special celebration and request special character appearances as you plan via the Disney Meetings and Events team. Similar to weddings, they have an array of venues to choose from with minimum expenditures to reach, including the ability to customize them with the food, floral and gifts to truly make it yours. (I know someone who was able to book their event right under The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror with a custom-designed mini replica of their wedding cake as well as an appearance of special characters that they were able to have approved!)

I hope this was helpful in planning your special multi-celebration trip this year, and please feel free to ask me anything more to help you plan - including how we requested rare characters and what the process was like to try to get them to show up on our big day!

Wishing you all the best on your Character Quest to get the autographs that you're both hunting for - Game on!
