Trip 6/2013. Have flown to WDW the last 3 times from Ohio. Airfare is kinda pricey. We are considering renting a car and driving. One big draw back is the 16 hour drive. What is your opinion about driving?

Hi Kristin!  My husband and I drive probably half the time we come to Disney as we have a large motor coach. We live in Indiana so it is a similar route for you in Ohio.

The first thing to consider is the time you have for your vacation. Driving will cut into the week as you will find you have to use two days to travel down and then two days to travel back. If that isn't an issue the drive itself is not bad. We usually try to do the trip in two days as it is safer to rest and be fresh on the roads. Our stops will either be just before Atlanta or after Atlanta depending on time of day and day of week. Driving through Tennessee is quite beautiful with rolling hills/small mountains.

I suggest you contact your local AAA if you are a member and get a written Trip Tik if you choose to drive. This makes it very easy to follow the correct routes and it is fun for the kids to see each page get turned meaning you are getting closer to the famous mouse! We drive the longest on the first day and then arrive mid day to Disney so we can unpack and enjoy some magic.
